You will need one pound of chicken (legs and thighs work best); ½ cup of soy sauce; ½ cup of brown sugar; ½ cup of bourbon whisky; and two cloves of chopped garlic. Combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, whisky, and garlic in a bowl stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Then, add the sauce to a plastic zip bag, and add the chicken on top of it. Coat the chicken in the sauce, and allow it to soak up the sauce overnight. The next morning, place the entire thing into a baking pan, and set the oven for 350 degrees. Allow the dish to cook for 30 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked completely.

Serve this dish over white rice with the drippings from the pan. There are lots of bourbon chicken recipes out there, but this is the way that most people do it. The idea is to create a sauce that has just a bit of a whisky punch with a lot of sugary sweetness. In many ways this sauce is a lot like a barbeque sauce with just a hint of southern flare. At this point, you can begin to add as many spices as you like to the mix. Just remember to keep those liquid ratios consistent, and always marinate the meat overnight. You will please everyone in the family with this meal, and it doesn’t take all that much effort either.
