Hawaiian Chicken Recipe
What do you think of when you envision the perfect Hawaiian chicken recipe? Most people tend to think of pineapple and maraschino cherries, though there are other ways of preparing this meal.
While it’s true that certain tropical fruits, such as the pineapple, have made their way into almost every Hawaiian chicken recipe some things (such as maraschino cherries) are the sole creation of chefs from other parts of the world. Hawaiian cuisine tends to take into consideration all of the things that grow upon Hawaiian soil, so most canned items are out of the question. Some ingredients that you will find in Hawaii include coconut, pineapple, dark cane sugars, rum, and lots of palm oils.
For those of you that are watching your weight don’t assume that all Hawaiian recipes are good for you. While some of them are rather light as compared to those recipes swimming in heavy sauces, they are often soaked in sugars. That said, you can still enjoy a nice slice of Hawaiian chicken on the barbecue in order to eat a semi-healthy meal. To create a nice, light, meal you will need four chicken breasts, ¼ cup of sherry; ½ cup of pineapple juice; 1 tsp. brown sugar, ¼ cup soy sauce; and ½ cup of coconut milk.
To make, add the liquids and sugar to the chicken and place inside of the fridge for at least one hour (overnight is best). Then, simply grill the chicken on the barbeque until it is cooked. If you want to dress up the dish, add some pineapple slices to the plate before serving. If you want to take the sugar out of this dish, you can easily substitute it with honey or another sweetener. Either way, this Hawaiian chicken reicpe will be delicious every time you make it.

Of course, the best part about this easy to make barbeque dish is that it won’t take you any time at all. If you are planning a backyard get together, this dish is perfect for those hot summer days. Just remember that the longer you marinate the dish, the tastier it will become. Also, you can poke a few holes in the meat with a fork in order to let the juices penetrate the meat thoroughly.
Feel free to play around with this Hawaiian chicken recipe until you get it just the way that you like it. Try substituting orange juice with the coconut milk for a really unique summer treat.
