Honey Chicken Recipe

A good honey chicken recipe is a great idea for a weeknight dinner or a weekend barbeque. Sweet, succulent, and incredibly addicting, this is one meal that you’ll prepare again and again.

Honey is such a versatile ingredient that it can be added to anything from meat to vegetables, and even to rice and pasta. If you like your food with a bit of a sweet taste, there is nothing more subtle and tastier than this nectar of the gods. A great honey chicken recipe really begins with the right kind of meat. Since chicken thighs tend to have a lot more taste than chicken breasts, purchase a package of thighs for this meal.

Of course, the kind of honey that you use will also impact the taste, so try and find a superior quality honey if you can. Mix ¼ cup of honey with one chopped onion, two cloves of chopped garlic, two tablespoons of yogurt, and add a pinch of salt and pepper. Place all of these ingredients inside of a large plastic zip bag, and then place the chicken thighs inside of the bag. Using your fingers, rub the ingredients into the chicken slightly. Then, place the chicken bag into the fridge to marinate for a few hours or overnight. Once the chicken is done marinating, remove it from the bag with tongs. Now, you have two options: you can cook this meal in the oven, or you can throw it on the barbeque.

The cooking method is really up to you, and it largely depends upon how you like your meat cooked. Either way, try not to overcook the meat or burn the honey. For slight variations to this recipe, you can add a bit of Dijon mustard, some paprika, or any other spice that you like. For a more intense flavor, try cutting a few slits into each piece of meat prior to marinating it. The marinade will seep into the meat during this process allowing for a stronger flavor. You are guaranteed to make this honey chicken recipe over and over again if you enjoy the taste of something a bit sweeter.

For those with a massive sweet tooth, the amount of honey in this dish can be increased. If you want to drench your chicken in honey, go right ahead. Or, you can make the marinade without the honey, and simply sprinkle the chicken with the honey as you cook it.

As you can see, there are numerous ways to tweak this honey chicken recipe. All of them will work well, and all of them will be wonderful no matter how you decide to make it.
