Poppy Seed Chicken Recipe

Do you want to have a great poppy seed chicken recipe under your belt? While some people include crackers and other packaged goods in their recipes, this one showcases that tasty little seed.

In order to make the following poppy seed chicken recipe, you must have fresh poppy seeds. The kinds that you can buy in the grocery store are usually not all that fresh. So, search for a specialty shop that carries fresh seeds before continuing with this recipe. Once you have the seeds, place a handful of the in a skillet over very low heat, and toast them for just a few minutes (do not burn them!). Now, you are ready to move on with the following dish.

You can use chicken breasts or thighs for this recipe, though thighs with the bone still intact will be a lot tastier. Coat the chicken in flour, salt, and pepper, and then set it aside. Now, mix two eggs in a bowl, and dip the chicken inside of the egg mixture. Then, return the chicken to the flour mixture once more. Place the chicken on a large cookie sheet that has been lined with tin foil. Pre-heat your oven to 350 F. Meanwhile, place the juice from three lemons inside of a sauce pan with just enough water to cover the juice. Heat the pan slowly while stirring to reduce the mixture.

Adding one tablespoon of corn starch and one tablespoon of sugar, allow the lemon mixture to reduce until it forms a thick paste. Place the chicken in the oven and cook thoroughly while the lemon mix is reducing. Once the chicken is done, pour the poppy seeds into the lemon mixture, and then top the chicken with the sauce. This poppy seed chicken recipe can be altered as you like, just try and keep those seeds fresh at all times. Believe it or not, fresh seeds have a whole different taste to them when compared to older ones.

If you love the taste of a fresh citrus dish, you will love this recipe. Simple, yet effective, this one is perfect for those weeknight meals. In fact, you can even keep a jar of the sauce in the fridge just in case you don’t know what to make for dinner.

Poppy seed chicken recipe is easy to create, but it is also incredibly delicious. This seed mixed with a hint of lemon juice is a winning combination every time.
