Tips for Grilling Chicken

Need some great tips for grilling chicken? There are lots of tricks out there to be found, but there is only one tried and true secret that every great chef adheres to.

Do you want to know the best kept secret for preparing great chicken every time? It’s called brining…and it works like a charm. Prior to cooking your chicken, place the entire thing into a bath of salted water for at least eight hours. Once the meat has bathed for eight hours, take it out of the bath and plunge it into cold water for one hour. Then, thoroughly wash and dry the meat before preparing it for the barbeque. By doing this extra step you are helping the muscle within the chicken to expand, which translates into moist, plump, and juicy meat every time. Now, let’s talk about those tips for grilling chicken…

You will want to make sure that you have some type of great barbeque sauce or marinade prepared for your meat. Whether you make or buy it is up to you, just be sure that you slather the meat in something. Allow the marinade to penetrate the meat for at least one hour before cooking it. The next step is to be sure that your grill is piping hot. A grill that is only lukewarm will not produce great meat. When your grill is ready, you can either place the meat directly upon the grill, or you can place the meat inside of tin foil before throwing it on the grill. The tin foil will make the meat juicier, while the direct flame will create a deeper charcoal flavor.

If you have a roasting spit attached to your grill, this is the best way to cook the meat. If not, just let it cook on the grill for twenty minutes. Since you have already gone through the brining process mentioned above, you don’t have to worry about whether or not the meat will be juicy. Still, try not to overcook the meat…many backyard chefs often cook chicken until it is dry and brittle. Just keep your eye on the meat while you are cooking, and you should have a delicious meal in no time. As you can tell, there are lots of tips for grilling chicken, but brining is the most important one.

When that summer sun starts to sizzle, there is nothing better than a great chicken based meal. Add some fresh corn, summer veggies, and homemade bread to the mix if you want your guests’ eyes to pop.

The aforementioned tips for grilling chicken have been tested time and again…just make sure to brine every time.
