Culinary Academy of New York has been successfully training students for over sixty years in the culinary and hospitality fields. During this time, the school has offered a range of vocational training programs within these broad fields. Today, the school's primary focus is offering programs which provide the industry with skilled commercial cooking and hotel and restaurant management employees. With the growing awareness of the effect that food has on health and well-being, there is a great demand for culinary professionals who can prepare food that is not only beautiful and delicious, but health supportive as well. Our comprehensive Chef’s Training Program, the only one of its kind, offers preparation for careers in health spas and restaurants, bakeries, private cooking, catering, teaching, consulting, food writing and a variety of entrepreneurial pursuits. The Chef’s Training Program is licensed by the New York State Department of Education and accredited by ACCET. It is offered on both a full-time and part-time basis. The focus of this 619 hour program is mostly vegetarian, and also provides instruction in fish and organic poultry. Our meals are high in fiber and complex carbohydrates, and contain no white sugar and minimal amounts of dairy products.

A variety of culinary events are also available, including tastings, tours, shop and cook classes, and guest chefs. Students have the opportunity to work as kitchen assistants in baking and cooking classes and also to participate in a work-study program. More than 30,000 students study at this unique, open university.
