Cooking Basa Fish

There are many different methods involved in cooking basa fish, though some are easier than others. Since this fish is relatively mild it will require a few spices to perk it up.

As with any dish, cooking basa fish begins by understanding what it actually is. This type of fish is a type of catfish native to Vietnam. North Americans can find this catfish in many larger markets selling imported goods. Taste wise, you will find that the meat is rather bland on its own, and it is not at all firm and fleshy. Now that you know a bit about it, let’s get on with the best methods for cooking basa fish.

Free Dinner Planning & Grocery Shopping Sheets

The easiest way to prepare this meal is to grill it once it has been wrapped in foil. You can add a few spices to the meat, add a lemon slice, wrap it in foil, and grill for ten to fifteen minutes per side. Since it is a catfish, you can also opt for any catfish recipe (look for Louisianan inspired recipes) if you enjoy a bit of spice. For the most part, any meal prepared with this type of catfish will be tasty, though it is not something that everyone easily enjoys.

While some people cannot get enough of it, others largely detest it. If you are going to try out a recipe on a crowd, it is best to sample the end result prior to serving it. If you absolutely want to serve it, you can find ways of cooking basa fish that disguise the actual structure of the fish itself. The only thing to remember is to add a lot of salt, pepper, and spice (hot pepper usually work well) in order to bring out the most flavor. Additionally, you can also bread and pan-fry it if you want to prepare something really simple.

Dine Without Whine Sample

As you can see, this is one of the easiest things to make. If you really want to add some kick to this meal, make sure to pair it with a few side dishes that have a lot of flavor. Really, you can’t go wrong with this dish as long as you don’t overcook it (it can turn to mush easily!).

Cooking basa fish may be one of the simplest ways to put dinner on the table in a hurry. Though this type of fish is not too popular, those that like the taste will often eat it time and again.
