Cooking Corn on the Grill
There are so many different methods for cooking corn on the grill, it is almost impossible to find only one that you love. Here, you will find a few techniques that are sure to please every time.
There is only one thing to remember when cooking corn on the grill – keep those husks on! While many boilers around the world love to take those husks off for sheer ease, this will not produce the best taste. When you leave the skin on, you will discover that the overall taste is much sweeter. In fact, the taste is so much better that you may not even feel the need to cover it with salt and butter. Since you are going to leave those husks intact, don’t be alarmed if they cause a bit of smoke.
Once the skin has had a chance to touch the flame, you can expect some smoke to appear – this is perfectly normal. Actually, the smoke only adds to the flavor, so go ahead and let it burn. Leave the corn on the grill for approximately fifteen minutes, or until all sides are black, and then take it off and peel the skin back (watch out – it will be hot!). Once the skin is off, you can then start to dress your corn any way you like
For most people, once the “cooking corn on the grill” part is complete, they simply douse the corn with salt and butter in order to happily munch away. However, you can take this favorite tradition one step further. Melt a few dishes of butter, and add garlic to one; fresh basil to another; and chili peppers to the last one (or, add anything you like). When you go to put the butter on the corn, you will find that the flavor is intense – and it is a great way to spice up any get-together.
Once you become a grill guru, you can easily turn any party into a feast. There is really no trick to a great grilled meal, though it is fun to experiment once in awhile. Remember to leave those husks on, and you will be doing yourself a great favor.
Now that you know all about cooking corn on the grill, what are you waiting for? The sun is out, your friends are just a phone call away, and those veggies couldn’t get any fresher than they are right now.
