Cooking Spaghetti Squash

Cooking spaghetti squash can be an excellent way to spice up any meal, though there is only one debate when it comes to preparing this food: to cut or not to cut?

While some people believe that cutting this vegetable is the way to go, others find that cutting it will only take away from the essential nutrients that it provides. If you do decide to cut it up, you will find that it cooks a lot faster – however, you must be very careful when attempting to cut it, since it is rather rigid and tough to slice through. If you want to leave it whole, simply pierce the skin of the vegetable numerous times with a knife, and bake it for one hour in a 375 degree oven. Once you decide whether you want to cut or not, you can then choose the best method for cooking spaghetti squash.

One of the best ways to prepare this vegetable is to simply cook it in the oven, remove the meat from the skin by using a spoon, and then place the meat inside of a blender and combine it with butter and salt. In many ways, this recipe tastes a lot like mashed potatoes (though a bit stringier), but it is packed with nutrients that potatoes do not provide.

Also, many people find that cooking spaghetti squash is a great way to add a side dish to a meal without resorting to pasta or rice. Really, there is no wrong way to cook this veggie, though you will find that some methods are simply easier than others. If you are looking for a way to add just a bit of spice to this autumn treat, try a tiny pinch of sugar and cinnamon – a quick, warm, snack in a flash.

Go ahead and experiment with the numerous recipes that you find in order to discover how versatile this type of vegetable really is. Most of the time, this vegetable is best when it is in season, though you may be able to find decent ones during those colder months as well.

After you begin cooking spaghetti squash, it will be hard for you to stop – after all, it is one of the tastiest vegetables on earth! Create your own classic dish with whatever ingredients you choose, just decide whether you want to cut it or not first.
