Cooking London Broil

Cooking London broil is a great way to prepare a steak, though this recipe should not be confused with the meat itself.

Many people are under the impression that cooking London broil refers to the actual cut of meat itself, though this is simply not the case. The fact of the matter is that this is only one way to prepare a cut of meat. In order to avoid confusion, butchers have begun to label certain types of meat in this manner (to make it easier for consumers). However, this type of meat is usually a flank steak even though other cuts of meat (such as round steak) can be used. Now, on to that popular recipe…

Essentially, this recipe calls for you to broil the steak – make sense given the name of the meal, doesn’t it? To do this, you will need one flank steak, a bit of red wine vinegar (2 Tbsp. works), one glove of garlic (chopped), and 2 Tbsp. of cooking oil. To make, combine the vinegar, oil, garlic, and salt and pepper inside of a bowl to make a marinade. Then, cut small slits in the steak, and place them inside of a oven-proof dish. Coat the steak with the marinade, then cover it with plastic wrap and place the whole thing inside of the refrigerator to chill for one hour.

Once you have removed the steak from the fridge, pour any excess marinade from the dish. Heat boiler, and place steak three inches from broiler itself. Finally, cook steak for five minutes per side and slice into pieces to serve. That’s it – that’s all there is to cooking London broil. Now that you know the basic method for creating this dish, you can easily prepare your own version using the basic steps mentioned above. Since this meal largely consists of meat placed inside of a marinade, you can easily create your own marinade using whatever ingredients you like – the trick is to place it under the broiler.

Meat prepared in this manner will become juicy and tender, which is precisely what you want any steak to taste like. While some people prefer their meat in its natural form (with a marinade), this type of recipe is really worth a shot.

Even if you have never made this type of meal before, the recipe listed above is really easy to follow. Once you have gone through the process of cooking London broil at least once, you will find that you don’t need the recipe any longer – in short, this is the perfect meal to experiment with.
